It all started for me a couple of years before my Grandad passed away, he came down to visit and took me and my brother Tenpin Bowling, I enjoyed it so much that I offhandedly said "I wonder if there's a club?" Next thing I know he's handing me a pamphlet saying that my names down to attend next week end. The rest, as they say, is history. Anyone here play or have another hobby they want to share?

I love playing pool! I'm not a big fan of going to bars but around here that seems to be the only places that have tables. Before he became sick, my dad was really good and was well known in our small town as being something of a shark. My older brother was also really good but he does not play as often as he used to and so he is very out of practice but I can still see some of his old skill on the few occasions we play together.
I've been told by a lot of good players that I have a lot of potential if I would just slow down and take my time. It is one of my favorite games though regardless of how good I am. Just like chess.

I love playing Pool, I'm no where near good at playing and don't often get a chance to do so, but its fun to shoot a few rounds when the opportunity arises. It doesn't seem to matter how long I take with taking shots but more comes down to a case of luck.

Once you learn where and how to hit the cue ball and you understand the various Englishes then you can focus more on skill than luck. But then I had to learn these things because I grew up playing against my brothers and while they would let me play slop, I would also hear them make off-handed comments about how they would never play slop and so naturally I wanted to be like my big brothers. I'm actually really glad that I learned because there is something satisfying about calling a shot that your opponent raises their eyebrows at and then you sink it like a pro.
Unfortunately, I usually have to get that first 'bad game' out of the way before I start looking like I know what I'm doing on the table. Lol
Now bowling, don't even get me started. The only thing that stops me from playing with lane bumpers is pride. Lol I still enjoy playing but only if I'm with friends as where I could shoot around on the pool table by myself if need be.

The place where I bowl has an area with 4 full sized pool tables, it's a nice change of pace to the constant crashing of pins on the lanes, and as for the bumpers, I cannot play with them up, they just put me off balance so badly. I'm gonna try and start playing some pool a bit more often, see if I can at least not be terrible at it so I can put up a challenge, haha

I feel like I throw the bowling ball like a girl. I have no form and I fractured my right hand a few years ago that never really healed correctly so I can't bowl for too long before it starts to hurt. That's not my excuse for being a bad bowler, though. I sucked before I hurt my hand. Lol
I really have to try to find a place to play pool that's not a bar. I love having a few drinks while I play but I'm not crazy about the bar scene. I've never been to a bowling alley that doesn't also serve beer so I'll have to see if I can find any close by. And the best way to get better at pool is to just shoot around. Pool is one of those games that you can actually teach yourself even if the process is a little slower without someone showing you. Just experiment with hitting the ball at different angles and force and pay attention to how it moves and how it interacts with the rest of the balls on the table. Playing by yourself also lets control the set-up.
You'd probably want to find somewhere that has a free pool night, though. There are some places around here that charge you $1.25 a game and that's a waste if you're not playing someone.

Aye, I never have liked the bar scene or going out drinking on the weekends, not my thing at all. There's a dedicated pool hall nearby here, might check it out sometime and see what they charge. Hand injuries and bowling... Yeah that never mixes well, I can recall all the times I've twisted my wrist while playing, instant out of action, and I broke my wrist when I was younger so I know what you mean about it starting to hurt after any lengthy period of play. Thanks for the tips on playing pool though! I will definitely be giving that a try next time I get to play.

I also enjoy both pool and bowling. I'm not very good at either one, however. Plus, I haven't played in quite some time.

I browse imgur. Also, on occasion, I watch, play, or read something and go on and on about what I thought of it.

I'm actually interested in pretty much any hobby you'd put in front of me - Pool, Bowling, Gaming, Models, Costuming, LARPing, Sports and much more. I can get into just about anything. But, if I had stop all of the others and just focus on one, it would be gaming. Love me some MMOs and shooters.

I'm a boring person. The hobbies or activities on which I spend the most time are bird watching and nature photography.

I second what Avelyn said, I sometimes like to sit near my window and listen while there's a thunderstorm going on. Granted they don't happen very much in the UK and I don't really know if its a 'hobby', but I still enjoy doing it when I can.

Something about the sound of thunder just gets my creative juices flowing! Now it is 10 'till five in the morning and the early birds are chirping and I find it just as soothing and inspiring as I did the thunder. I've seen a lot of documentaries about all sorts of exotic birds and if I learned anything it is that they are a rich and diverse species that is FAR from boring.

Despite where I live, I find that there are quite a lot of birds in the area, so sometimes (Mostly on the warmer nights) I leave a window open slightly so that if I wake up during the early hours of the morning before the sound of cars and people fills the air, I can hear them outside, and they're always very soothing sounds, nothing like the cawing of a Crow at least, haha
