Hey Guys,
Quick favor from a fellow fan...
If any of you have a minute I'm in the midst of rereading all of Bob's books and just got to The Two Swords. I notice the cover for this book is glossy whereas the first two books in the series and subsequent books written after the Sellswords were more of a matte type finish. I started collecting the hard covers a bit late so now I am worried if I have the right edition. I would assume they kept the same cover type within the trilogy.
I did look and TTS was written in 2004 when they began the LoD hardcovers which are all glossy so it seems like they went glossy then switched back to matte but I am trying to confirm. I know a bit nitpicky but if any of you have them and can check I would be most appreciative.
Thanks

If you're referring to The Legend of Drizzt Collector's Edition with the glossy, purple covers, then I believe those ended with Book IV which contained The Silent Blade, The Spine of the World, and The Sea of Swords. Wikipedia claims that portions of the Legend of Drizzt were reprinted in these collector's edition, but I do not believe that to be the case. I could be wrong, but I do believe that was done so intentionally as it is my own understanding that The Legend of Drizzt only covers his life from the events of Homeland up until The Sea of Swords as all of those stories were primarily about Drizzt and (more importantly) they covered the events that essentially turned him into said 'legend'.
If Drizzt were a superhero, I suppose you could call these his origin stories.
From my perspective, the events of the trilogy you are referring to (The Hunter's Blades) start Drizzt on a whole other path that sees him dealing with larger and larger events that affect the world around him more so than they do him personally.
So to put simply, the way I see it, The Legend of Drizzt books are all Drizzt's stories as where those after are just stories with Drizzt.
Hope that helps. Welcome to the boards. We're not dead. Just very, very tired.
