Hello everyone, and welcome to what we hope will be eventually become the new official forums of R.A. Salvatore. That is ambitious, yes, but with your help we are confident that we can make it happen.
The message board was shared around a little faster than we anticipated because we need things tested and we need input. Our Wizard is handling construction and I'm snapping the whip to make sure she keeps on task, but there are things we will miss or things that need to be changed or added. We want your feedback at this stage so we can develop a board that you want to visit before people begin settling in.
As for the status of the board...
Several months ago, Robillard contacted me with an idea to create a new board for the forums. She was very enthusiastic about creating a welcoming space that might attract and retain new members and maybe bring older members out of the woodwork. I liked the idea and since it had been several months since the admin at RASForums disappeared, I encouraged her to contact Bob and see what he thought of the idea. Robillard has been communicating with him since and progress has been made, though snags and setbacks were inevitable.
Which brings us to now, to this moment, and one question that probably matters for some of you: Is this an official space?
The answer is no, not yet, but we hope it to be. The problem, the biggest snag of them all, lies nearly a decade in the past. Those of you who have been around long enough will remember Realms of Infamy. Bob does not want a repeat of that. Neither do we. What we want is a welcoming space for new and older members alike to discuss R.A. Salvatore or become part of a strong community. We want a space where Bob feels welcome to participate. But we need to prove to Bob that this is that space.
This is a blank slate and that might worry some of you. There are years upon years upon years of content over at RASForums that binds us together. That is our community, where we developed friendships and relationships and probably spent way too much time. It is hard to let that go, but I have been assured by our Wizard that you won't have to. If it gets to the point that become an official space and the replacement for the RASForums, I've been told that importing everything over is possible and easy.
I am probably leaving something out, but that is about usual for me. I want to thank everyone again for coming over and testing the forum and possibly leaving feedback. We have lofty ambitions here and we hope that you will stick around, give this place a chance, and help to make this place the best it can be.
If you have feedback or comments leave them below.
