Post your favorite quotes from the series here. Remember to put spoiler tags if it's directly related to a story event! Here are just a few of mine: "For life is experience, and longevity is, in the end, measured by memory, and those with a thousand tales to tell have indeed lived longer than any who embrace the mundane." - Drizzt Do'Urden, The Pirate King "BWAHAHAHA" - Athrogate, all the time. “It is better, I think, to grab at the stars than to sit flustered because you know you cannot reach them.” - Drizzt Do'Urden Pretty much anything that Comes out of Thibbledorf Pwent's mouth. So, what are you favorite quotes?

"It is good to be home. It is good to hear the wind of Icewind Dale, to feel its invigorating bite, like some reminder that I am alive. That seems such a self-evident thing-that I, that we, are alive-and yet, too often, I fear, we easily forget the importance of that simple fact. It is so easy to forget that you are truly alive, or at least, to appreciate that you are truly alive, that every sunrise is yours to view and every sunset is yours to enjoy. And all those hours in between, and all those hours after dusk, are yours to make of what you will. It is easy to miss the possibility that every person who crosses your path can become an event and a memory, good or bad, to fill in the hours with experience instead of tedium, to break the monotony of the passing moments. Those wasted moments, those hours of sameness, of routine, are the enemy, I say, are little stretches of death within the moments of life." -Drizzt Do'Urden, Sea of Swords
I used this as my monologue in my 8th grade Theater class, and to this day it still stands as my favorite quote from the series/

I can't remember most of the places they're from but I have a few written down. Most of them are conversations between Entreri and Jarlaxle, though, so probably around the Sellswords stuff for the most part.
“He died of natural causes…Because, of course, a dagger to the heart quite naturally ends one life.”
“Where in the nine hells did you ever find the notion that I would fight fair?”
“I am no enemy to these simple farmers. Rather, I might be of use to them, should danger threaten.” “Of course. Unless one of them crosses you, in which case you will destroy the entire town.” “There is always that.”
“Ye’re not even caryin’ no weapon.” “A thousand dead men have said the same.”
“I beg, leave us in peace, else I’ll forget my delusional paladin friend’s desire to become the hero of the land.”
“My hands are stained with blood. I see no reason to stay them now.”
“This is going better than I expected.” “You are an eternal optimist, then.” (I have actually responded to someone with that second part a time or two lol)
“Tell me, my friend, if I peer into your chest, will I see but a cavity where your heart should be?” “Inform me if that is the case, that I might cut out your heart to serve as a replacement.” “Far too large for the likes of you, I fear.”
“I have already explained that in full.” “You hold a strange understanding of the term, ‘in full.’”
“My friend here, he does not much enjoy discomfort. You would not know it from his looks or his reputation, but he is, I fear, a bit of a fop.” “Every insult duly noted. An extra twist of the blade, you see.”
“She was unreliable, in any case. Obviously so. I do take offense when the women I have bedded turn on me with such fury.” “If it happens often, perhaps you should work on your technique.”
“Someday I will tell you of my own litany of deeds, good bard. Then indeed will your friends label you as long winded.”
So yeah....Those two crack me up.

The one in my signature... "Be gone and be fast, else you will become a stain upon the ground awaiting the next rain to wash you away." Spoken by Robillard to Morik the Rogue
(I'll pull the exact quote from the book later.)
I will never forget that line and how quickly Morik reacted to it. There is something deliciously intimidating about a mage who can trash talk and leave you certain he means every word literally.

"Demanding of another that he earns your respect is, in of itself, an act of arrogance, a way of self-elevation, implying by its very nature that your respect is worth earning."
"Respect is one of the most basic needs of reasoning creatures, particularly among men. An insult is just that because it is an assault upon respect, upon esteem, and upon that most dangerous of qualities: pride. So when I meet people now, they do not have to earn my respect."
These both come from the same monologue and it really helped shape my opinion concerning respect. In fact, when I brought my copy of the Icewind Dale trilogy to Salvatore to sign, it was this monologue that I had him sign. It really meant a lot to me. I used to be a real jerk back in the day and while I was already turning myself around when I started reading the Drizzt books, this little monologue on respect really hit me.
But to get off of the serious boat, there is another quote that I really love but I can't find it to save my life. Since all of my books were stolen, I have not re-read any of the books in a while. But I will always remember Drizzt and Bruenor sitting in a bar in Luskan (the Cutlass) and Bruenor remarking that he hoped his grandchildren would not have stripes. If anyone could find the exact quote, that would be awesome!

Best quote ever about Drizzt loosing three of his "friends":
"One had been dismissed — and subsequently executed — for a foiled assassination attempt on a higher ranking student, a second had been killed in the practice arena, and the third died in his bunk of natural causes — for a dagger in the heart quite naturally ends one's life!"
Even though it's been more than 20 years ago since I read the books, I still remember that quote. It's almost as good as Djengis Khan "It is not sufficient that I succeed – all others must fail." ;-)
