This is simple and ignores any short stories written in this setting, as I am uncertain that there were any written: Saga of the First King
These books were written after the DemonWars trilogy, but appear first chronologically. - The Highwayman
- The Ancient
- The Dame
- The Bear
The DemonWars Saga- The Demon Awakens
- The Demon Spirit
- The Demon Apostle
- Mortalis
- Ascendance
- Transcendence
- Immortalis

Other than a few short stories these are the only work of Bob's that I have yet to read. I do need to remedy this... I find it hard to branch out from the Forgotten Realms though. Normally I just find another book or so to read between Bob's releases.

It's actually The Ancient, not The Ancestor, but, other than that, Sar is correct.

Whoops. Don't know how I made that mistake. Sometimes my fingers work faster than my mind and they are really, really stupid.

Corona is actually an easy world to get comfortable in- Bob worked his magic, as always.

No one said they were clumsy. Just too quick for their own good.

I've never read anything more than an excerpt or two from anything in the Corona setting. So does anybody have any opinions on the best place to start? I've heard tell that the three books after The Highwayman are poor in comparison but I am always hearing talk of the DemonWars Saga. Other than a few short stories these are the only work of Bob's that I have yet to read. I do need to remedy this... I find it hard to branch out from the Forgotten Realms though. Normally I just find another book or so to read between Bob's releases. If you'd like to get in to some of Salvatore's work outside of the Forgotten Realms but don't want to jump in to an extensive series such as those set in Corona then I suggest you check out his Crimson Shadow trilogy. I feel like the plot is a little lacking when compared to some of his other work, even a little shallow but the characters are engaging and it has some of the coolest villains you'll ever meet. Notice that I said villains rather than antagonists because these guys are just bad to the bone with no apologies or blurry gray lines and while that can often make for poor characters, it also has the potential for creating a baddie that you just love to hate. The trilogy doesn't get a lot of praise because it really does cater to a lot of typical and even generic fantasy tropes but I feel like Salvatore does it in such a way that it is more of an homage than anything else.

The Highwayman is a great standalone. I read the first of its eventual sequels, The Ancient, and that was more than enough to turn me off reading further into the series. It has been quite a while since I read it (I picked it up on release), but I remember unintentional humor and some of Bob's poorer writing habits (X did Y because he was--dramatic pause--X/Z!). The Highwayman is a good read and I would recommend that you read it, even if I wouldn't recommend reading beyond it, but it is probably not the best introduction to the setting. For that, you are better off going right to the beginning: The Demon Awakens. If you are interested in reading the series and you have an e-reader, I will point out that the series will be coming out in omnibus e-book format in June. The Crimson Shadow series is intensely generic, but it is a great story and all kinds of fun and stands out from the rest of Bob's books as my favorite, if not the best or most original.

Great list! I'm just starting to get into Corona (Starting with the Highwayman) so this will come in handy for me. I'd like to take your advice and skip to the first of Demonwars after Highwayman but I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi & Fantasy lore. I gotta know everything that happens.

Personally, I didn't think the follow-ups to The Highwayman were that bad. True, they weren't quite as good, but I still enjoyed them.
